The Canon PowerShot D30 is the new and updated version of the D20, with the main difference being in the depth to which you can take the camera in water. The PowerShot D30 is waterproof down to an impressive 82 feet below sea level (the world’s deepest waterproof compact digital camera as at 20th January 2014). The PowerShot D20 is waterproof down to 33 feet, which is still pretty impressive!
Both the Canon PowerShot D30 and D20 offer a 12.1 megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor, and 1080p full HD video, to produce stunning images and videos even in low-light situations.
Both cameras are relatively low-priced for such high quality, with the Canon PowerShot D30 costing around $80 more online over the D20 for its additional features.

As far as features are concerned, unless you need the extra water depth of the Canon PowerShot D30 Camera, there’s not a lot of difference between these 2 waterproof cameras. Having said that, the Canon D30 does have a better look and feel to the camera with better positioning of buttons and a better designed camera body that is easier to hold, so even if you don’t need the extra depth, it’s worth opting for the D30 if you can afford the extra cash. If the differences don’t matter to you, then go for the Canon D20 while it’s still available and save yourself some money!

See what other customers who have bought either the Canon PowerShot D30 or Canon PowerShot D20 Waterproof Digital Camera have to say about them:
H.T.:
“The Canon PowerShot D30 is a good tough underwater camera. I’ve just been on a snorkelling trip and I took loads of pictures and videos in and out of the water with this camera. The camera is a good size with rubber grips to hold on to. The buttons are easy to use and the layout of the menus are similar to other Canon cameras. Just remember to rinse off the camera with fresh water to prevent the salt and sand from making the buttons sticky. Great point and shoot camera!”
C.J.:
“I took the Canon PowerShot D30 camera with me on a diving trip. I have to admit I didn’t have very high expectations but I actually got some good shots as deep as 80 feet with this camera. I took the camera down to around 90 ft and the all the seals are still fine. I’m really glad I invested in this, it’s a nice portable waterproof camera and offers a great way of capturing memories at depth.”
K.T.:
“The Canon PowerShot D20 is a perfect vacation camera. I’m a photographer by trade by don’t like lugging around my expensive cameras on vacation. I was able to adjust around 80% of the settings on this camera and it’s waterproof! I took some amazing snorkelling and underwater shots with this and then later on in my vacation took it up a snowy mountain. Perfect!”
