The Frigidaire FFAD5033R1 and Frigidaire FFAD3033R1 Dehumidifiers offer different operating capacities, with the FFAD5033R1 being the larger unit and capable of removing up to 50 pints of water per day (28 liters per 24 hours) compared to the FFAD3033R1’s 30 pints of water per day (17 liters per 24 hours). 

The Air Flow Volume also differs between these 2 dehumidifiers.  Air Flow Volume is the amount of air and time it takes the air to move through the dehumidifier – labelled as Air CFM (cubic feet per minute).  The Frigidaire FFAD5033R1 is the more powerful dehumidifier, offering an Air CFM of 159 (low) and 182 (high), while the Frigidaire FFAD3033R1 offers an Air CFM of 100 (low) and 124 (high).

Given that the Frigidaire FFAD5033R1 is the higher capacity and more powerful dehumidifier, it follows that there is a difference in overall size/weight, motor power and wattage between these 2 dehumidifiers.

The Frigidaire FFAD5033R1 has a horsepower of 0.71 hp (cool) while the FFAD3033R1 has a lower horsepower of 0.43 hp (cool).  Motor RPM speeds differ with the FFAD5033R1 operating at 1130 RPM (high) and 930 (low), while the FFAD3033R1 operates at 1350 RPM (high) and 1050 (low).  The Frigidaire FFAD5033R1 operates at 530 watts on cool (4.8 amps), while the FFAD3033R1 operates at 320 watts on cool (3.2 amps).

The Frigidaire FFAD3033R1 is the smaller and lighter dehumidifier of the two, taking up less space overall.  It weighs approximately 34 lbs compared to the FFAD5033R1’s 46 lbs, and measures around 4” lower in height and around an inch less in width and depth than the FFAD5033R1.  Both dehumidifiers feature caster wheels and top and side handles for easy maneuverability between rooms.

Given the difference in the overall physical size between these 2 dehumidifiers, it follows that the size of the water bucket also differs, with the Frigidaire FFAD5033R1 having a larger capacity bucket of 13.1 pints compared to the 7.6 pints capacity of the FFAD3033R1.  Both dehumidifiers feature Full Bucket Alert and Auto Shut-off when the bucket is near full so you never have to worry about it over-filling.  Alternatively, both dehumidifiers also offer the option of continuous draining with hook-up to a standard garden hose when located near a suitable drain.

Generally, there are 2 things to look for when determining what size dehumidifier is best for your home:

CAPACITY
i.e. the amount of moisture a dehumidifier can extract from the air per day
(typically labelled in Pint Capacity, e.g. 30 pints, 50 pints etc)

AIR FLOW VOLUME
i.e. the amount of air and time it takes the air to move through the dehumidifier
(typically labelled as CFM which stands for Cubic Feet per Minute)
