One of the main differences between the Briggs & Stratton 1696610 and 1696614 models is the chute controls.  The Briggs & Stratton 1696610 light-duty snow thrower features left-side crank rotation and manual deflector controls whereas the 1696614 medium-duty snow thrower features a dash-mounted chute rotation and on-panel deflector control.  The 1696614 also features a headlight which the 1696610 does not have.

The Briggs & Stratton 1696610 Snow Thrower features 6 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds whereas the 1696614 features 5 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds.  Both models feature a 12” steel scroll auger, a durable aluminum gearbox and use synthetic oil for easy starting.
