“The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM is an excellent Macro Lens that for me is proving its value virtually every day.  I can get really high-resolution shots of flowers, insects and other close-up subjects.  I can even get clear shots of tiny bees which are 2-3mm long when using this lens with my T4i.  The 3 focal range settings have their uses but I mostly stick with the full-range setting.  The lens is optically stabilized and has an auto/manual switch.  I’ve found this lens works very nicely for a lot of handheld work.”

“I’ve had the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens for several months now.  I use this lens with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III and use it mainly for nature photography, photographing flowers, leaves, plants etc.  I absolutely love it!  The focusing on this lens is super-quick and accurate – the lens instantly re-focuses when you move.  You need to hold very steady when shooting at f/2.8 or alternatively use a tripod.  The bokeh effect is fantastic – it’s nice and soft with no sharp angles or weird artifacts.  I’ve even shot desktop macros of small objects and the photographs are equally impressive.  You just can’t beat the sharp focus of this lens.  The lens is speedy and quiet in operation even in IS mode.  I already had an 85mm lens for portraits but this lens is just as competent for portraits, you just have to stand a little further back!  This lens has become one of my most frequently used lenses.
