The Vitamix Pro 300 has a slightly more powerful motor than the Pro 500, at 2.2 peak horsepower compared to 2.0 peak horsepower. Both blenders offer variable speed control with a simple to use turn-dial as well as having a dedicated pulse function switch.

The Vitamix Pro 500 has the addition of 3 Auto pre-programmed settings for making Smoothies, Frozen Desserts and Hot Soups. This feature gives you walk-away convenience which the Vitamix Pro 300 does not have.
Both blenders come with a 64 oz capacity container (suitable for medium to large batches), but the design of the containers is different, with the Vitamix Pro 500 having a Classic tall container while the Pro 300 has a low-profile container which is wider and shorter to fit more easily under most kitchen cabinets. Some people have found that the design of the taller container seems to be better for blending very thick smoothies or smaller batches.
Both containers come with a spill-proof lid and removable plug to add ingredients as you blend. Both containers are made from BPA-free Eastman Tritan Copolyester.
It follows that the different design/size of the containers affects the size of the blades that the container can incorporate, with the Vitamix Pro 500 utilizing 3” diameter blades and the Vitamix Pro 300 utilizing 4” diameter blades. Both blenders also come with a different sized tamper to match the size of the container, with the Pro 500 having a classic tamper and the Pro 300 having a low-profile tamper.
Given the different design of the containers, it also follows that the overall height of these 2 blenders differs, with the Vitamix Pro 500 measuring around 20.5” high and the Vitamix Pro 300 measuring around 17.5” high.
Both the Vitamix Pro 500 and Pro 300 incorporate a radial cooling fan and thermal protection system for long-lasting durability. Vitamix confidence in their blenders is reflected in the 7 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty offered on both these machines.
