Ideal for allergy and asthma sufferers, the Winix WAC5300 and Winix WAC5500 Air Cleaners utilize a combination of air cleaning technologies to purify the air in your home:
· Carbon pre-filter
Captures household odors like smoke, cooking, and pet smells
· True HEPA filter
Captures 99.97% of airborne pollutants like dust, pollen, allergens, mold spores, and pet dander
· PlasmaWave technology (NO ozone or harmful by-products produced!)
Neutralizes airborne viruses, bacteria, chemical vapors, gases, and odors
The Winix WAC5300 and Winix WAC5500 are both built to service large rooms with a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) room size rating of 350 sq ft. Both these air cleaners offer 4 fan speeds which you can manually select or there’s also an option to run the fan automatically with its built-in Smart Air Quality Sensor that automatically adjusts the fan’s speed depending on the air quality in the room.
Both the Winix WAC5300 and WAC5500 are surprisingly quiet in operation. You have the option to turn off the PlasmaWave while still running the rest of the unit. Additional features of both these air purifiers include a digital electronic display, a light sensor and sleep mode.
With the impressive cleaning qualities of both these machines, just how do the Winix WAC5300 and WAC5500 differ? The Winix WAC5500 is a little more expensive to buy than the Winix WAC5300 and comes with the addition of a Remote Control and a WASHABLE true-HEPA filter which the Winix WAC5300 does not have. Apart from that, these are essentially the same machine with a slight difference in appearance.
Both the Winix WAC5300 and WAC5500 PlasmaWave True HEPA Air Cleaners are Energy Star Qualified to help save you money.
Let’s take a look at the main differences and similarities in features and specifications between the Winix WAC5300 and Winix WAC5500 to help you decide which is the best Air Purifier for you:

Both the Winix WAC5300 and Winix WAC5500 are high quality air cleaners that will make the air in your home more breathable. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with either of these machines. For the relatively small extra up-front cost of the Winix WAC5500 you get the added bonus of a Remote Control and you could save yourself some money in the long run with the advantage of this machine’s WASHABLE true-HEPA filter.
See what some customers who have bought either the Winix WAC5300 or Winix WAC5500 Air Cleaners have to say about them:
R.A.:
“The Winix WAC5300 keeps the air clean and is whisper quiet. It even started up when my cat passed gas!!”
V.C.:
“The Winix 5300 is easy to set up and use. It’s not too bulky and operates quietly to moderately noisy depending on the speed setting. I definitely feel that the air quality in my home has improved.”
R.M.:
“I’m very happy with the Winix WAC5500 air cleaner. It works well and I really appreciate having washable filters.”
T.R.:
“We love the Winix 5500, it’s the best air cleaner for the money. It has a good variety of fan speeds. The lowest setting is totally silent yet you still get steady air flow. The highest setting does sound like a jet but moves tons of air. It doesn’t have a carry handle so you have to grab the sides of the machine to move it, so although a little awkward it is extremely light to carry. I would have liked a setting between 1 and 2 for light sleepers (1 is totally silent while 2 is louder). Overall though this is a great air cleaner and we will be looking to buy some more of these for the rest of our home.”
